Many of you may have noticed I have my new web site up and running. I love it!! I still have more pictures to add, and a few tweeks to make, but it is up and running. Now maybe I should start blogging more! I have been very busy this summer with weddings, engagements and portraits. I need to update all of you with those.

Something new for this year for me are Christmas Cards. I am still working on the designs, and I know the time is coming very quickly! I will get some samples posted soon!!

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

Yesterday I received an email I had been waiting and hoping for for quite a few weeks. I received notification that I have been accepted as an Affiliate Photographer for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep is a non-profit organization made up of 1000’s of Professional Photographers through out the world. As photographers we provide professional photographic services to families suffering the loss of a baby at no cost, giving the families lasting memories of their precious little one. I am looking forward to learning more myself, and preserving the memory of many little ones for their families.

Make A Wish

Ok, I know it has been a while, but I got to do something really fun this past weekend! I went with my brother-in-law to shoot a Make A Wish event at WIR (Wisconsin International Raceway) in Kaukauna. The kids got rides on Harleys, helicopter rides and topped off the day with a few spins around the track with local drivers! They all had a blast.

This is a shot Greg took of me while I was on the track shooting.

Bellies & Babies

This past Saturday I traveled to Minneapolis for Sam Puc’s Bellies & Babies Tour. It was a great program! So, I am currently working on a new session - Watch me Grow, and Mommy too! I am very excited about this. If you are expecting a baby or recently had a baby give me a call or drop me an email. I Will be offering discounts for this program to get it up and rolling.

this is A & C. Their wedding is June 14th.

We did their engagement session before I moved in to my studio - we were in my cramped basement! I love all of the room I have in my studio. I think A & C will be surprised when they see my new digs.

A New Me….

I have decided I need to make a change - in the colors used to represent me and my studio. If you came to my blog from my website you know what colors I have been using. And if you are reading my blog you have an idea of the colors I want to go to. When I was working on my studio last year I had to decide what color it would be - inside and out. My first decision was what color to paint the walls. I kept being drawn back to browns. So, brown it is. Then I needed another color - burgundy looked great with the brown, so that was it. Then I wanted another color to use for the text of my business name that would complement the brown and burgundy. Aqua was it! So, there it is - Brown, Burgundy and Aqua (or something close to these). I am still working on getting the exact shades of each of these colors for print - delivery boxes, bags, business cards - but that should come soon.

I have also been learning about color - what colors mean and the responses you can get from colors. Very interesting. I have learned that Brown, as my dominant color, is the ultimate earth color associated with hearth and home, substance and stability. It’s responses are “rooted, wholesome, sheltering, warm, durable, secure, rustic.” The responses for burgundy are “rich, elegant, refined, tasty, mature.” Aqua is “cool, fresh, refreshing, healing.”

So, that being said, here are 2 pictures of the welcome are of my studio. These were taken shortly after opening, and I was still ordering and framing prints for the walls - I guess I need to take new pictures - it’s not like I don’t have a camera there.

This first one shows the brown walls and burgundy curtain I have separating the shooting area from the welcome area.

This picture shows the welcome area. I have added a table between the chairs and also portraits on the walls - I know, I need to take new pics.

So, these new colors need to represent me, and my studio. I think it is a good fit!

I ordered this for a studio sample and I am so happy with how it turned out! I can hardly wait to frame it and hang it is the studio!! I know it is pretty big here but if I post it any smaller you just won’t be able to see the smaller photos. My studio sample is printed 10 x 20. Stop in and see it sometime!
